Qualifications
Enhance quality, cost, delivery, and capacity metrics for mechanical hardware in Starshield satellite and ground station systems.Work closely with design, materials, and manufacturing engineers to deeply understand part, assembly, metrology, and/or subsystem design intent.Assist procurement in strategically sourcing components aligned with supplier capabilities by evaluating manufacturing processes and quality systems.Establish and articulate technical and quality requirements for suppliers based on customer and program expectations during both NPI and production phases.Lead the resolution of supplier quality challenges through root cause analysis, serving as a bridge between purchasing, engineering, production, and suppliers.Define product technical requirements and ensure suppliers adhere to these standards.Oversee and implement the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) with selected suppliers to facilitate production rates.Analyze supplier quality and delivery metrics to identify trends and performance gaps, driving supplier improvement initiatives.Conduct independent research to discover potential new suppliers and manufacturing capabilities.Identify and spearhead process improvements across the supply chain.

MECHANICAL SUPPLIER DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER (STARSHIELD)
Join the Starshield program, which utilizes SpaceX’s advanced Starlink technology and launch capabilities to bolster national security initiatives. While Starlink serves consumer and commercial markets, Starshield focuses on government applications, particularly in areas like earth observation, communications, and hosted payloads. We seek dynamic and innovative engineers who can guide supplier development from initial ideation through to full-scale production.
This pivotal and high-visibility role requires collaboration across various functions to facilitate the development and production of Satellites and Gateways. You will work hand-in-hand with internal engineering and manufacturing teams, as well as directly with suppliers, to implement effective and innovative supply chain strategies that meet production targets. With in-house integration, our supplier development engineers witness their assemblies come to life daily.
