Objectives:
As a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) in Eyecare, you will play a pivotal role in establishing and nurturing relationships with both established and emerging external experts (EEs) in the field of Ophthalmology and Eyecare. This position is crucial for advancing our scientific credibility and ensuring that our objectives are met. Based in Tokyo, you will report directly to the MSL Manager for Eyecare.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a robust knowledge base to effectively disseminate Eyecare and Ophthalmology-related scientific information to external experts and healthcare professionals.
- Identify and engage qualified external experts in collaborative initiatives such as Advisory Board meetings, medical education programs, congress symposia, and potential research collaborations.
- Conduct field activities with the highest integrity, documenting the outcomes of scientific engagements with targeted external experts as outlined in the annual medical functional plan.
- Provide scientific support and foster relationships with external experts in the Eyecare sector, including key academic societies, by delivering credible scientific presentations through individual or group interactions.
- Support external ophthalmic surgical experts with scientific and technical guidance, ensuring the proper use of ophthalmology surgical devices in clinical settings.
- Collaborate with local Medical Information to ensure that responses to unsolicited scientific inquiries, including off-label information on AbbVie medicines, are accurate, timely, and comply with local regulations.
- Serve as the liaison for potential investigators, facilitating communication with the Area/Global Medical team regarding investigator-initiated study (IIS) proposals related to AbbVie products and pipeline assets.
- Attend scientific meetings and conferences, summarizing key data presented for sharing with the Brand Team and other internal stakeholders.
- Adhere to all applicable local and international laws, guidelines, codes of conduct, and AbbVie policies and procedures.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with commercial and other internal teams to achieve Brand Team objectives.
- Participate in all assigned training programs to enhance job-related knowledge and skills.
- Assist prescribers with requests for access to AbbVie medicines on a named patient or compassionate use basis, in accordance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
