The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or education. Additional qualifications include:Master’s degree and/or certification from the Commonwealth of Virginia;Experience in a classroom setting;Completion of a state-approved teacher preparation program in Theatre Arts (or Career Switcher Program in Theatre Arts);Proficiency in classroom technology, including Google Educational apps, interactive whiteboards, and electronic grade books;A growth mindset and a willingness to engage in ongoing professional development;Experience in coaching and/or sponsoring clubs;Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Wakefield School, situated in the picturesque surroundings of The Plains, Virginia, is on the lookout for an enthusiastic and innovative educator passionate about inspiring young minds. This full-time faculty position is set to commence in August 2025 and includes a comprehensive benefits package. The successful candidate will teach Middle School and/or Upper School classes in Choir and Drama, covering essential topics such as history, performance techniques, and theatre production. Furthermore, you will have the responsibility of mentoring 8-10 students at one grade level. This role also involves teaching, producing, coaching, and directing at least two major productions, as well as overseeing project entries for VTA, VHSL play competitions, and Music in the Parks. Candidates with independent school teaching experience, a relevant degree, and a commitment to continuous professional growth will be highly regarded.
