THE JOB
As an Emergency Veterinary Assistant at VEG, you won’t just be another team member; you’ll be a vital part of our emergency care team from day one. You will support your colleagues, provide comfort to pet parents, and learn the intricacies of emergency veterinary care in real-time. This role offers you direct involvement in triage, treatment, and the joyful moments that come with tail wags and healthy recoveries. Whether you aspire to become a credentialed technician or explore various paths within veterinary medicine, we’re here to nurture your ambitions.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Provide a warm welcome to incoming patients and assist in triaging them towards the appropriate care.
- Support treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics, including bloodwork, imaging, catheter placements, and oxygen support.
- Collaborate with credentialed veterinary technicians and veterinarians to set up and monitor anesthesia and sedation cases.
- Manage IV fluids, blood transfusions, and medication administration.
- Be actively involved in every aspect of patient care, ranging from outpatient to inpatient scenarios.
- Participate in patient rounds to ensure continuity of care.
- Receive training to perform CPR and become a RECOVER Certified Rescuer.
- Advance into more complex responsibilities as you grow in your role.
