- Conduct thorough patient assessments that consider age-specific needs and psychological, emotional, cultural, and environmental factors. Identify signs of abuse or neglect.
- Evaluate patient and family educational needs, preferences, and readiness to learn.
- Anticipate potential complications and develop a nursing care plan based on comprehensive assessments, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams and the patient’s support system.
- Facilitate effective communication with healthcare providers, documenting observations and patient responses to treatments.
- Prioritize patient care needs and adjust as necessary in response to changing conditions.
- Actively engage in discharge planning from admission, ensuring patient education and understanding of care plans.
- Deliver safe, age-appropriate interventions, consulting with team members as required.
