Job Title: Payroll Accountant

Pavago is on the lookout for a dedicated Payroll Accountant to oversee payroll functions for our diverse client base. In this pivotal role, you will ensure timely and accurate employee compensation, manage tax obligations, and maintain compliance in all payroll operations. You will be responsible for the complete payroll cycle, ranging from integrating payroll data with accounting systems to resolving any discrepancies, and producing insightful reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Payroll Processing: Manage payroll for 50–500 employees on a bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly basis, ensuring accurate validation of time entries, overtime, bonuses, and deductions prior to processing using platforms like ADP, Paychex, Gusto, QuickBooks Payroll, or BambooHR.
- Journal Entries & Reconciliations: Accurately post payroll transactions in systems like QuickBooks, NetSuite, or Xero, reconcile payroll clearing accounts with bank statements, and ensure precise recording of benefit deductions and employer contributions.
- Tax & Compliance: Prepare and submit payroll taxes at all governmental levels and file necessary quarterly/annual forms. Stay updated with labor and tax regulations, modifying processes as needed to remain compliant.
- Benefits Administration: Reconcile healthcare, retirement, and other benefit contributions with provider invoices and verify that deductions align with employee elections and company policies.
- Employee Support: Address payroll-related inquiries and assist employees with onboarding payroll setup.
- Reporting: Generate payroll and headcount reports for HR and finance, aid audits with thorough payroll documentation, and analyze payroll variances against budget.
- Process Improvement: Enhance payroll workflows through Excel macros, integrations, or APIs, and document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for consistency and compliance.
