PURPOSE OF POSITION: The Produce Manager oversees the operations of the Produce and Floral department, ensuring top-notch customer service and compliance with company policies. This role is integral in meeting production and budget targets while also performing stocking duties as required. Exceptional customer service skills are essential, as the Produce Manager serves as a role model for associates.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: This position reports to the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager. Direct reports include the Assistant Produce Manager, Produce Clerks, Salad Bar Clerks, Floral Clerks, and other clerks within the Produce Department.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Produce Manager is accountable for all facets of department operations, including supervising personnel, delivering excellent customer service, achieving sales, gross profit, labor, shrink, and inventory goals, as well as product ordering, quality assurance, presentation, and merchandising. Regular adherence to company and departmental policies is required. Responsibilities also include stepping in for department personnel as needed, and in the absence of higher management, may assume charge of the store. The role involves effectively leading a team of 2 to 20 associates in a dynamic environment and taking necessary disciplinary action when warranted. Proficient use of various store computer systems is essential, and availability for 40 hours per week during peak business times is mandatory.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Conduct routine assessments of work practices and provide feedback to Store Management. Strive to meet other objectives, including food safety, workplace safety, and compliance with company audits. Additional duties may be assigned by Store Management.
ASSIGNMENT, REVIEW, AND APPROVAL OF WORK: Department Managers assign and approve the work of all clerks under their supervision and must proactively identify and ensure the completion of necessary tasks.
