Crunchyroll is a joint venture between Sony Pictures Entertainment in the United States and Aniplex, a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment Japan, both headquartered in Tokyo.
Job Responsibilities
As a Producer, you will report to the Vice President of the Anime Co-Production team. We are looking for candidates based in our Tokyo office.
- Your primary objective in this role will be to co-develop and produce content with production partners, achieving set goals.
- Attract new anime fans in the global market and maintain ongoing interest with engaging stories and beautiful animation. Introduce the world to new genres of anime that fans have never encountered before.
You will also contribute to attracting new subscribers to the platform and generating additional revenue by carefully selecting content that maximizes viewership based on regional trends.
This position will support the Senior Producer of the Anime Co-Production team in content lineup strategy and team management.
Utilizing a deep understanding of the content production business and industry relationships, you will drive content development and production collaboratively, both as an individual and as part of a team.
Additionally, you will mentor and provide constructive feedback to Associate Producers in the team, contributing to talent development.
Main Responsibilities
- Collaborate with production committees to promote the development, production, and distribution of premium anime content that meets Crunchyroll's quality standards and resonates with global audiences.
- Analyze market trends and audience insights to identify, evaluate, and secure the most promising original works and projects. Formulate content strategies tailored to regional needs and opportunities.
- Contribute to the formulation of comprehensive production strategies that align with business goals and long-term growth priorities.
- Lead and nurture a high-performance team consisting of Producers and Associate Producers. Guide the team through all stages of production projects and build the necessary team structure through recruitment and onboarding to achieve business objectives.
- Act as a primary contact for internal teams and production committees, serving as a trusted strategic partner. Ensure that all projects are developed within the agreed scope and requirements, delivered on schedule, and meet specifications.
Qualifications:
- Over 5 years of experience in content development and participation in production committees within the anime industry.
- A profound understanding of the content production business and a robust network within the anime industry.
- Solid knowledge of rights business in general and its application to content production and distribution.
- Proven track record of managing multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- A meticulous attention to detail and a proactive attitude towards engaging in production tasks.
- Strategic thinking abilities, with the capacity to analyze challenges from multiple perspectives and make informed decisions.
- Familiarity with domestic and international trends and developments within the anime industry.
- Excellent communication skills in both Japanese and English.
