Team Overview
The Tech Platforms team is responsible for overseeing and advancing the shared technology platforms that empower Mozilla Foundation initiatives, ensuring effective, secure, and scalable operations. Within this team, the Mozilla Common Voice project stands out as a key initiative aimed at reducing bias in AI by enabling representation for speakers of over 7000 languages, particularly those from underrepresented communities, in AI training datasets.
Mozilla Common Voice is a crowdsourced data platform that serves more than 300 global communities, with contributions from over half a million individuals. This dataset is leveraged by these communities and utilized by tech and research organizations worldwide.
The Common Voice initiative encompasses product development, platform engineering, data stewardship, privacy compliance, and community engagement. Our team collaborates closely with contributors, researchers, and partners across various regions and languages to ensure that our platform remains trustworthy, inclusive, and sustainable while fostering long-term impacts and future growth.
The Product Director for Common Voice will play a pivotal role in ensuring the project's overall success. This position will focus on shaping the product vision, developing a strategic roadmap, prioritizing initiatives, and guiding the long-term direction of the project. Additionally, the director will oversee community management aspects and provide leadership in engineering and delivery.
