About the job
Our Mission
At Reflection AI, our mission is to create open superintelligence that is accessible to everyone.
We are committed to developing open-weight models tailored for individuals, organizations, and even entire nations. Our team comprises AI experts and innovators hailing from industry leaders such as DeepMind, OpenAI, Google Brain, Meta, Character.AI, and Anthropic.
Role Overview
The Product Policy Lead will play a pivotal role as we establish ourselves as a leader in the American open-weight AI model space. This position is crucial in shaping how products are developed and influencing the global evolution of AI governance. As we move forward, the next 6-12 months will be critical for establishing regulatory frameworks, enterprise procurement standards, and competitive narratives.
We are seeking a Product Policy Lead to bridge the gap between research, product development, and policy-making. This role will involve crafting governance frameworks, developing technical policy documents, and creating public narratives that facilitate safe product launches, build trust, and encourage widespread adoption without regulatory delays.
This is not a conventional policy or trust & safety role; it is embedded within product development. You will be responsible for translating emerging AI governance expectations into tangible product requirements, release standards, and technical communications (including blogs and specifications) that resonate with regulators, enterprises, researchers, and developers.
What You’ll Do
Own Product-Embedded Governance
Establish and uphold Reflection’s product governance framework for open-weight models, detailing model specifications, transparency standards, release criteria, and usage guidelines.
Convert evolving regulatory, safety, and enterprise trust expectations into actionable product requirements that align with Reflection’s strategic roadmap.
Set launch-readiness benchmarks that effectively balance capabilities, safety, and adoption rates.
Build the Technical Policy Narrative Engine
Develop and manage a technical blog and publication framework that transforms research findings, evaluations, and safety-related work into clear, credible, and reusable policy-relevant documents.
Collaborate closely with research teams to translate papers, evaluations, and discoveries into blog posts and technical notes for:
Engagement with policymakers and regulators
Influencing industry standards
