Position Location:
The Production Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining headcount, equipment, and facility capacity plans to achieve output targets in our state-of-the-art 24/7 genetic testing laboratories. This pivotal role involves creating and communicating production schedules, setting production targets, and continuously monitoring performance against these plans. The Production Planner provides daily and weekly reporting of laboratory KPIs and schedules to lab leadership while collaborating with various teams including Lab Operations, Process Engineering, Equipment Support, Analytics, Product Managers, and Engineering to ensure optimal lab production.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain capacity models for headcount, equipment, and facilities across multiple labs.
- Create daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules aligned with production goals.
- Monitor shift-level execution against planned targets, identifying deviations greater than 5% and implementing remedial plans.
- Collaborate with Lab Operations leaders to realign work-in-progress (WIP) and production priorities to mitigate constraints.
- Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) including QCDS, schedule adherence, cycle time, bottleneck queues, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
- Engage with Continuous Improvement teams to identify production constraints and enhance scheduling for improved throughput and quality.
- Analyze data across multiple platforms (SQL, Qlikview, PowerBI, LIMS, gSuite, JIRA, etc.) to identify issues and work collaboratively with Lab Leaders to implement improvements.
- Establish and manage an escalation pathway for delayed or problematic samples in partnership with Lab Leaders and internal stakeholders.
- Work closely with management to resolve problems, roadblocks, and barriers to progress.
- Clearly communicate production expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely manner.
- This role entails regular interaction with PHI in both paper and electronic formats, utilizing various technologies to access PHI as needed for job functions.
- Plan and lead cross-departmental team meetings.
- Adhere to departmental expectations.
- Complete training related to HIPAA/PHI privacy, general policies and procedure compliance, and security as soon as possible.
