We are actively looking for an experienced Coding Auditor to join our Health Information Management (HIM) consulting team, working remotely on a PRN basis (15-20 hours per week). Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting coding audits and reviews on various professional fee record types such as Evaluation and Management, surgical CPT, hospitalist, annual well visits, inpatient pro-fee, and outpatient pro-fee.
- Performing audits across different specialties including Primary Care, ENT, Nephrology, Urology, Cardiology, Thoracic, Neurology, Emergency Department, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Behavioral Health, Ophthalmology, Endocrinology, and more.
- Researching relevant regulatory and coding guideline documentation to provide clients with comprehensive support, utilizing resources like Official Coding Guidelines, Medicare/Medicaid Claims Processing Manual, and National Correct Coding Initiatives.
- Assisting in the design and delivery of educational seminars for clients and staff.
- Collaborating with other members of the HIM Consulting Division on senior-level projects, including assessments, tool development for audits, staff education, coding test materials, and coding content for articles.
The ideal candidate is flexible, detail-oriented, capable of working independently, quality-conscious, and adaptable to change. Additional qualifications include:
- AHIMA or AAPC certification.
- 2-5 years of proven experience in E/M audits along with previous coding experience.
- Impartiality and objectivity when finalizing and presenting audit findings.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in various EMR systems and UASI audit software, with the ability to manage files securely in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, confident in presenting to clients both on-site and via webinars/conference calls.
