Division Overview: New York City stands at the forefront of developing and nurturing vibrant neighborhood commercial districts. The Neighborhood Development Division (NDD) plays a pivotal role in supporting the establishment and growth of community-based development organizations (CBDOs) that enhance commercial districts throughout the city. Our mission is to collaborate with CBDOs to create lively neighborhoods where New Yorkers can shop, work, and thrive. Our initiatives include:
- Partnering with local communities to assess commercial district needs and devise tailored solutions
- Providing training, resources, and personalized assistance to bolster the capabilities of community organizations
- Administering grant programs aimed at revitalizing and strengthening commercial areas
- Managing the largest network of Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) in the nation
The NDD is currently on the lookout for a dynamic Program Manager or Program Manager Associate specializing in Capacity Building. Reporting to the Director of the Capacity Building Team, this individual will have the autonomy to apply independent judgment while overseeing a diverse array of Avenue NYC organizational development programs and capacity-building initiatives focused on CBDOs in low-to-moderate income communities. The programs span Neighborhood Leadership, Nonprofit Legal Assistance, Community Engagement Strategies, Nonprofit Management Workshops, Digital Storytelling, and various cohort-based learning communities. Our goal is to cultivate a robust network of community organizations and develop a pipeline of leaders equipped with expertise in commercial revitalization and place management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the planning, outreach, implementation, and evaluation of multiple Avenue NYC organizational development programs and capacity-building initiatives.
- Support cross-functional programs, including the Avenue NYC Organizational Development grant program and collaborative capacity-building efforts with other NDD teams.
- Manage daily operations of assigned Avenue NYC capacity-building programs, including outreach, recruitment, and curriculum development for virtual and in-person programming.
