About the Role
Join our dynamic team at gem-technologies as a Project Engineer supporting the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL)! This full-time position is based in the vibrant city of Los Alamos, New Mexico.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with customers and users of LANL’s Plutonium Facility (PF-4) to develop comprehensive Statements of Need and Scopes of Work aimed at resolving technical facility challenges, improving process or equipment performance, and enhancing the reliability of the Plutonium Facility. This may involve modifications to the facility, equipment replacements, changes in facility layout, or the implementation of new processes.
Work closely with Design Engineers and System Engineers to create innovative technical solutions.
Lead the design development, conduct design reviews, and secure design acceptance while engaging with both internal and external subject matter experts.
Coordinate with Work Execution and Construction Management teams to execute designs and manage change control effectively, ensuring engineering responses to any deviations are handled correctly.
Ensure that the technical solutions continue to align with facility user requirements. Upon project completion, oversee close-out activities, ensuring all documentation, test reports, designs, and drawings are compiled in compliance with LANL’s Document Control requirements.
Handle projects both within and outside the nuclear facility footprint, which may vary from modifications to accredited nuclear safety systems to office space renovations.
Regardless of project size, complexity, or cost, serve as the primary advocate and facilitator for all technical aspects, maintaining high standards in technical design documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
