Volunteer Role Overview

Since April 1, 2020, Cuso International has been implementing an ambitious international cooperation project across its operational countries, including Cameroon. This eight-year initiative aims to promote gender equality, empower women and girls, and position volunteerism as a vital driver of sustainable development. In this endeavor, Cuso collaborates with Trauma Center Cameroon (TCC), an NGO providing psychological, social, medical, and legal support to survivors of torture and severe violence, while also facilitating trauma healing, victim reparations, and community reintegration through reconciliation and public awareness processes.
As a volunteer advisor, you will closely collaborate with the Trauma Center Cameroon team to strengthen the integration of trauma-sensitive approaches and psychosocial support within training and economic inclusion pathways. Your contributions will promote more inclusive, humane, and sustainable interventions, fostering healing, resilience, and socio-economic reintegration for survivors, while also supporting mental health advocacy efforts within the communities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the structuring of psychosocial approaches
- Train partner teams
- Assist in referral mechanism development
Essential Academic Qualifications:
- University degree in one of the following fields:
- • Psychology
- • Counseling
- • Social Work
- • Mental Health
Essential Professional Skills:
- At least 5 to 7 years of experience in:
- • Psychosocial support
- • Working with survivors of gender-based violence
- • Humanitarian or post-conflict settings
