As the Purchasing Manager reporting to the Director of Finance, you will be instrumental in optimizing hotel operations by sourcing top-tier goods and services. Your expertise in managing supplier relationships and supporting various departments will be key to delivering an outstanding guest experience.
This position encompasses the oversight of procurement strategy, inventory management, supplier evaluation, and purchasing systems, ensuring both operational excellence and financial prudence throughout the hotel.
YOUR DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Formulate and execute procurement strategies that align with both operational and financial objectives.
• Procure goods and services while negotiating favorable pricing and supplier contracts.
• Establish and nurture robust supplier relationships, continuously monitoring their performance and product quality.
• Discover new suppliers and innovative products through thorough market research and industry trends.
• Collaborate with departmental teams such as Kitchen, Housekeeping, Maintenance, and Front Office to meet operational demands.
• Supervise inventory levels to avert shortages or excess stock.
• Keep precise purchasing records, contracts, and supplier pricing using PurchasePlus.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings while maintaining high product quality and service standards.
• Generate reports on procurement activities, purchasing performance, and cost management.
• Assist in stocktakes and ensure storage areas are well-organized and secure.
• Oversee purchasing expenditures and monitor invoices against budget targets.
• Lead and mentor the purchasing team, promoting best practices in procurement processes.
• Ensure adherence to WHS protocols and company policies.
ABOUT YOU:
You are a commercially astute, organized, and proactive individual with extensive procurement experience in a fast-paced hospitality setting.
• A minimum of 3 years in a Purchasing Manager or similar role, preferably within the hospitality or hotel industry.
• Profound understanding of procurement, logistics, and inventory systems (PurchasePlus preferred).
• Proven negotiation skills and contract management experience with suppliers.
• Strong financial and commercial insight with a knack for identifying cost efficiencies.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Exceptional organizational, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
• Capable of juggling competing priorities and adhering to deadlines.
• A tertiary qualification in Hospitality, Business, or a related field is preferred.
