Job Summary
- Review and analyze technical specifications to develop comprehensive Quality Assurance Plans for quality control.
- Monitor Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) procedures and assist in establishing acceptable practices for construction activities.
- Oversee a variety of NDT methods including Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Radiographic Testing (RT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Penetrant Testing (PT), Visual Testing (VT), Positive Material Identification (PMI), Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT/ToFD), and Heat Treatment (HT) of welded joints.
- Conduct quality assurance activities compliant with established quality management systems.
- Develop inspection and testing plans along with record forms adhering to project specifications and international standards.
- Perform inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards and accurately document results.
- Manage inspection status effectively using tools such as inspection matrices.
- Conduct surveillance activities related to quality and NDE inspections both in-house and with external vendors.
- Interpret complex engineering drawings and welding procedure specifications (WPS) proficiently.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Oversee and perform inspections for NDT activities.
- Generate client Requests for Inspection (RFI) as needed, ensuring timely notice for hold, witness, and inspection points.
- Prepare and review quality procedure documents from subcontractors, including Inspection Test Plans (ITP) and Material Approval Requests (MAR).
- Review and approve inspection reports documenting inspection results.
- Control the status of inspections using systematic tools such as inspection matrices.
- Establish and implement practical inspection processes specific to disciplines based on project requirements and international codes.
- Ensure Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) are closed out promptly and assist in preparing Corrective Action Plans.
- Coordinate inspections with clients, ensuring thorough communication.
- Assume QC Supervisor responsibilities in their absence.
- Address quality violations through regular toolbox talks with the construction team.
- Review and track material submittals for NDT Definable Features of Work prior to preparatory meetings.
- Conduct preparatory meetings with subcontractors regarding NDT Definable Features of Work.
- Inspect incoming materials for compliance with specifications and approved submittals, conducting visual and measurement tests with the onsite logistics team.
- Reject and manage returns of unacceptable materials.
- Implement lessons learned and ensure appropriate preventive actions are taken.
- Verify that all personnel involved in NDT and PWHT activities are properly skilled and qualified according to applicable standards.
