Key Responsibilities
Perform inspections related to valve testing, ensuring compliance with specifications and standards.
Identify materials and implement proper protection for piping and fittings. Verify pipe sizes, schedules, flange ratings, and fittings.
Conduct inspections during prefabrication, including incoming material checks, material handling, heat number transfers, fit-ups, reinforced pad tests, orientation, and flush grinding of orifice flanges.
Inspect piping prior to erection to ensure the interior is clear of foreign materials and confirm that edge preparation and fit-ups are free of contaminants.
Verify the installation of valves according to flow diagrams, ensuring flow direction arrows are accurate.
Ensure all joints are accessible during pressure tests and confirm isolation or disconnection of non-tested equipment. Check that vents are open during filling and draining.
Validate repairs, re-testing, and re-inspections per specifications. Confirm closure of punch items and conduct walk-throughs for completed piping systems before mechanical acceptance.
Execute valve testing (seat test and shell test) for various valve types including ball, gate, globe, plug, butterfly, and control valves. Conduct PZV testing, including pop-up, seat leak, and back pressure tests.
Generate Requests for Inspection (RFI) for clients with adequate notice for hold, witness, and inspection points.
Prepare and review quality procedure documents from subcontractors, including Inspection Test Plans (ITP) and Material Approval Requests (MAR).
Review and approve related inspection reports documenting inspection results.
Utilize systematic tools like inspection matrices to control inspection statuses.
Develop practical inspection processes based on project requirements and international codes. Manage NCRs to closure within stipulated timelines and assist in creating corrective action plans.
Coordinate inspections with clients and address quality violations through regular toolbox talks with the construction team.
Review and track material submittals for all valve work prior to preparatory meetings. Inspect incoming materials to confirm specifications and compliance, conducting visual and measurement tests alongside the onsite logistics team. Reject and facilitate the return of substandard materials.
Implement lessons learned and ensure proper preventive actions are taken.
