JOB SUMMARY
As a Radiation Therapist, you will work collaboratively under the guidance of a Radiation Oncologist to deliver exceptional radiation therapy procedures to both outpatient and inpatient populations. Your expertise will be essential in diagnosing diseases and injuries while adhering to established protocols and standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
- Administers high-quality radiation therapy procedures in accordance with exam protocols in a punctual manner.
- Ensures imaging procedure quality and productivity by strictly following established standards and protocols.
- Practices effective communication using AIDET principles to identify patient service needs, ensure accurate exam performance, and build rapport with patients and their families.
- Educates patients and their families about the procedures and evaluates their ability to tolerate the exams.
- Prepares patients and the treatment area by positioning patients, adjusting immobilization devices, and operating equipment to achieve optimal exposure factors.
- Safeguards patients and staff by complying with safety regulations, infection control measures, and radiation policies.
- Utilizes appropriate sterile techniques in invasive procedures and upholds hand hygiene standards.
- Maintains equipment and workspace to ensure cleanliness and quality standards are met.
- Collaborates with engineers and physicists to maximize equipment functionality, promptly reporting any issues to management.
- Supports inventory management by assisting in supply maintenance.
- Conducts screenings to ensure safety protocols are followed for department access.
- Collects, verifies, and maintains all necessary documentation, including requisitions, patient histories, pregnancy status, shielding precautions, consent forms, and policies.
- Manages medical imaging records accurately and in a timely manner as per departmental policies.
