The Staff Radiographer embodies the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine (NM). This role requires adherence to NM's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, alongside compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory standards.
The Staff Radiographer executes diagnostic imaging procedures using advanced Radiographic equipment to create critical information for patient diagnosis and treatment, consistent with industry, departmental, hospital, and IEMA policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and interpret physician orders for radiological examinations in accordance with departmental procedures.
- Evaluate patient requests and assess their condition to determine the right imaging protocol.
- Inform patients about radiation safety and related concerns as applicable.
- Educate patients on the examination process, alleviate anxiety, and ensure comfort throughout the procedure.
- Position patients and perform diagnostic imaging using the appropriate equipment while ensuring care aligns with department and hospital standards.
- Maintain accurate medical records for each patient.
- Conduct electronic quality analyses of Radiographic images.
Additional Duties:
- Follow research protocols and keep accurate records for research data.
- Report equipment failures and performance irregularities to a supervisor promptly.
- Maintain the examination room according to departmental standards.
- Assist in training house staff, student technologists, and ancillary personnel in diagnostic imaging practices.
- Coordinate patient scheduling and transportation.
- Deliver high-quality patient data to ensure maximum customer satisfaction.
- Gather data to support quality management tracking.
- Engage in process improvement initiatives to enhance service quality.
- Facilitate continuity of care through effective collaboration with other departments.
This is a full-time position requiring 80 hours per pay period during evening shifts, with hours from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, including alternating weekends and holidays.
