CDR Health Care Inc. is actively seeking dedicated Registered Nurses in the Miami or Naples region who are prepared to travel to Ochopee, FL, to deliver essential healthcare services at a detention facility. In this critical role, you will oversee daily clinical operations, collaborate closely with healthcare leadership, and ensure the continuous provision of exceptional patient care. Your key responsibilities will encompass conducting thorough physical assessments, performing diagnostic screenings, administering treatments, maintaining precise medical documentation, and effectively managing on-site medical emergencies.
Additionally, you will supervise support staff, enforce infection control protocols, and tackle operational challenges to foster a safe, efficient, and patient-centered care environment.
Essential Functions:
- Manage daily operations to guarantee adequate staffing levels, supplies, and equipment availability.
- Act as the primary liaison between the facility, CDR Health, and the medical leadership team.
- Proactively identify and resolve operational issues including parking logistics, surge capacity, and staffing shortages.
- Ensure quality assurance by training staff and evaluating the effectiveness of testing procedures.
- Provide clinical staff break relief and assist with specimen collection as needed.
- Oversee the work of CNAs and LPNs, ensuring high standards of care and efficient workflow within the medical unit.
- Educate patients about their medical conditions, medications, and treatment plans empathetically and clearly.
- Keep accurate and current medical records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Conduct initial medical intake screenings for new detainees, including health histories, vital signs, and TB risk assessments.
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments for patients admitted to the medical ward.
- Administer medications as per provider orders and MAR, including injections, wound care, and chronic disease management.
- Triage patient complaints during sick calls and determine appropriate clinical actions or referrals.
- Monitor and manage high-risk patients, including those under detox protocols, suicide watch, or other observation categories.
- Respond to in-clinic emergencies by delivering ACLS/BLS care and coordinating further treatment as required.
- Implement infection control standards, ensuring compliance with sanitation practices, PPE usage, and isolation protocols.
- Document patient refusals of care, medication, or observation and escalate concerns appropriately.
- Participate in suicide watch protocols, including direct monitoring, timely documentation, and mental health referrals.
- Perform other duties as necessary and commensurate with the position.
