As a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) in the Stroke Unit, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to individuals with less complex needs, predictable outcomes, and a lower risk of complications. This position requires collaboration within an interprofessional health care team, adhering to the standards set by Osler, the College of Nurses, and the Regulated Health Professions Act.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement safe nursing practices throughout the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
- Deliver professional, compassionate care that prioritizes patient safety and promotes both physiological and psychological well-being.
- Engage with patients and families in an empathetic manner, respecting diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Follow infection control and prevention protocols diligently.
- Recognize and respond to emergency situations by assessing changes in patients' health status and effectively transferring accountability as needed.
- Provide thorough health education to patients and families, including comprehensive discharge instructions to facilitate continuity of care.
