Your Role as an Emergency Veterinary Assistant
As a Relief Emergency Veterinary Assistant at VEG, you won’t just be an assistant; you will be an essential part of our emergency care team. From your very first day, you'll be immersed in the action, triaging patients, offering comfort to pet parents, and gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment. Whether you’re aspiring to become a credentialed technician or seeking to explore your passion within veterinary medicine, we are committed to supporting your professional journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide a warm welcome and steady support to incoming patients, guiding them toward necessary care.
- Assist with various treatments, nursing care, and diagnostic procedures, including bloodwork, imaging, catheter placement, and oxygen support.
- Collaborate with our skilled veterinary technicians and veterinarians to set up and monitor anesthesia and sedation cases.
- Manage IV fluids, blood transfusions, and medication administration under supervision.
- Support all aspects of patient care, from outpatient visits to inpatient treatments.
- Participate in patient rounds to ensure consistent and comprehensive care.
- Receive training in CPR and become a RECOVER Certified Rescuer.
- Advance to more complex responsibilities as you grow in your role.
