Sales Leader – New Business Development

Cottingham & Butler is on the lookout for a dynamic and experienced Sales Leader to join our Madison office, focusing on pioneering new business opportunities and enhancing producer performance. This role transcends traditional sales positions; you will serve as a strategic guide and coach, collaborating with producers on complex deals, formulating sales strategies, and securing high-value accounts. Additionally, you will mentor emerging producers, fostering their development and elevating team performance. Key Responsibilities
1. Drive New Business Wins
- Collaborate with producers on identified opportunities to refine strategy, messaging, and positioning
- Lead critical prospect meetings, including discovery sessions and proposal presentations
- Enhance the quality and effectiveness of the consultative sales process and deliverables
- Boost close ratios and win rates on complex, high-value accounts
2. Lead Complex Sales Strategy
- Serve as a senior advisor on sophisticated opportunities across various industries
- Guide risk assessment, program design, and comprehensive solution strategies
- Coordinate with marketing and service teams to create competitive, unique proposals
3. Develop and Coach Producers
- Mentor early- and mid-career producers throughout their sales journey
- Provide timely coaching before and after prospect meetings
- Refine prospecting tactics, meeting frameworks, and consultative selling techniques
- Contribute significantly to accelerating producer ramp-up and long-term success
4. Expand Team Capacity
- Act as an extension of the Wisconsin leadership team in client interactions
- Facilitate simultaneous pursuits of new business opportunities across the region
- Enhance overall responsiveness and effectiveness of the sales organization
