About the job
Join Major League Baseball (MLB) in revolutionizing the game as a Seasonal ABS Technology Support Specialist for the 2026 season. We will implement the Automated Ball and Strike (ABS) system across AAA, the Florida State League, select Spring Training venues, and potentially other non-MLB games.
The ABS system utilizes advanced optical tracking technology to assist plate umpires with ball and strike calls. As an ABS Tech, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the system operates seamlessly, providing vital support to the umpires while accurately recording system performance data. Your responsibilities will include direct assistance to the plate umpire at field level, maintaining the functionality of their device, and ensuring proper wiring. The ABS application operates on an MLB-provided iPhone connected via WiFi, making user proficiency essential.
Throughout each game, you will capture key data points for every at-bat, including:
- No audio
- Slow or delayed audio
- Pitch call issue flags
Note: This seasonal position requires regular onsite attendance at the ballpark. MLB does not offer relocation assistance, and you will need to manage your own transportation. We encourage applicants to apply for positions in their local market.
