The Security Design Manager plays a pivotal role as the senior project coordinator within our design review and standards compliance division. This individual will lead the training of design review engineers and staff, ensuring that all design review submissions are completed accurately and on time. Responsibilities include evaluating building designs, construction, and modifications to pinpoint critical security elements, as well as assisting in the planning and execution of acoustic and Radio Frequency (RF) policies and guidelines within the State Department’s infrastructure. The ideal candidate will provide expert knowledge and guidance on security principles and practices necessary to safeguard Department facilities.
The manager will actively participate in project teams dedicated to developing and refining technical security standards, particularly those aligned with Overseas Security Policy Board (OSPB) standards. This role also involves preparing detailed technical reports for senior government officials, identifying potential security vulnerabilities, and recommending effective risk mitigation strategies. Additionally, the manager will review designs to ensure compliance with OSPB standards for New Embassy Compounds (NECs), New Office Buildings (NOBs), and major renovations, while supporting the Certification Accreditation and Transit (CAT) Branch and the Bureau of Overseas Building Operations. Participation in working groups focused on policy exceptions and mitigation processes is also a key aspect of this role. The Security Design Engineer will manage data throughout its lifecycle, including collection, management, analysis, reporting, and secure disposition, to support design review and compliance activities.
