About the Role
Our Mapping team focuses on enhancing the spatial intelligence of our platform, which includes road matching, low-latency ETA predictions, and processing thousands of coordinates every second to ensure accurate journey tracking.
We are seeking a Mid/Senior Backend Engineer to join our team, which emphasizes maintaining lean frameworks and prioritizes producing clean, maintainable code swiftly through TDD, DDD, and continuous integration and delivery.
Currently, we primarily work with Go and are in the process of migrating from our Ruby monolith. Our technology stack includes PostgreSQL, MongoDB, RabbitMQ, Redis, gRPC, and Thrift, with everything managed on AWS and Kubernetes through Terraform.
The interview process consists of a recruiter screening, algorithms assessment, live coding challenges, and system design discussions. Senior+ candidates will also go through a structured review of their past experiences and achievements.
Responsibilities
- Write high-quality, performant code primarily in Go.
- Implement new microservices while aiding in the responsible management and migration from legacy systems.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and data scientists to convert abstract requirements into tangible technical designs.
- Ensure our systems remain responsive under heavy loads, optimizing for both latency and reliability.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience (5+ years for senior positions) in building and maintaining scalable backend services.
- We use Go; if you are proficient in another language (Python, C++, Java, Ruby, etc.), we will interview you in your strongest language. We value engineering fundamentals over syntax.
- In-depth knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis) and experience with message brokers such as RabbitMQ or Kafka.
- At least 1 year of hands-on experience with mapping-related tasks, including processing noisy geospatial data and map matching.
