THE DIVISION
The Bronx has reached its highest population level to date and is projected to grow by over 200,000 residents by 2040. The Bronx Office focuses on ensuring the borough develops excellent neighborhoods, affordable housing, dynamic commercial and institutional hubs, robust transit options, and high-quality open spaces and waterfronts.
This division comprises a dedicated team of planners and urban designers engaged in an array of studies, rezonings, and developments within this diverse borough. The Bronx Office oversees the review of various private and publicly sponsored land use and zoning requests and manages the Uniform Land Use Review Procedure (ULURP), which includes presentations to the City Planning Commission and collaboration with Community Boards. Staff members are community experts, providing vital insights to policymakers and elected officials on land use, zoning, urban design, and transportation issues across the borough, while closely coordinating with central divisions on both borough-specific and citywide matters.
THE ROLE
The Bronx Borough Office is in search of a seasoned planning professional to take on the role of Senior Borough Planner. This position presents a distinctive opportunity to contribute to strategic planning amidst significant growth, while addressing the diverse and evolving needs of the borough. The ideal candidate will possess outstanding technical planning skills and a comprehensive understanding of key land use and public policy issues pertinent to the department, including zoning, urban design, and affordable housing.
