Qualifications
Essential: Minimum of 5 years' experience in design assessment for reinforced concrete and steel structures, particularly under dynamic loads (earthquakes, blasts, wind, rain, snow). Proven track record of producing technical justifications for civil/structural design modifications within high-hazard industries. Expertise in applying both theoretical and practical methods to design, develop, and oversee engineering processes in nuclear/high-risk environments. Solid foundation in general and specialized engineering knowledge, leveraging both existing and emerging technologies.Desirable: Previous experience in a nuclear environment is advantageous. Familiarity with safety case development techniques, including HAZID/HAZOP studies.Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.Incorporated Engineer status (or equivalent experience).Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent experience).

Your Mission:
As a Senior Civil Engineer at Assystem, you will join a dynamic multi-disciplinary engineering team within a Client's Approving Authority. Your primary focus will be to support ongoing operations and future initiatives at client sites. Collaborating closely with Mechanical, Building Services, and Electrical Engineers, you will take charge of authoring, developing, assessing, and maintaining Engineering Design Substantiation. Your mission will be to ensure that the Design Intent, Critical Safety Functions, and Safety and Operational Requirements are adhered to, all while aligning with the latest best practices and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, assess, and manage Design Substantiation documentation.
Lead the implementation and oversight of design changes and concessions.
Present design substantiations to safety committees effectively.
Produce and maintain EIMT schedules, procedures, and records necessary for the safety case.
Prepare and review Periodic Review of Safety reports.
Provide expert engineering advice to both internal and external stakeholders.
Conduct Independent Technical and Peer Reviews (ITA/IPR) with diligence.
Apply your general and specialist knowledge to integrate emerging technologies into your work.
Utilize both practical and theoretical methods across all project phases, particularly in high-risk/nuclear environments.
Deliver robust technical justifications for civil/structural design changes in safety-critical contexts.
