- Conduct thorough pre-operative and post-operative assessments for all surgical cases, ensuring comprehensive follow-up.
- Manage and address any complications that arise during patient care.
- Provide guidance and share expertise with surgical and nursing teams to enhance their professional practices and adherence to standards.
- Offer administrative support, including patient charting, data recording, reporting, and coordination of educational programs.
- Contribute to the provision of 24-hour surgical care, which may require flexibility for evening or night shifts.
- Advise nursing staff on the management of critically ill post-operative patients, ensuring optimal care.
- Support ongoing professional development and medical education opportunities, including skills for in-service presentations and research methodologies.
- Adhere to departmental policies, objectives, and quality improvement initiatives, focusing on safety and infection prevention standards.
- Assist in training the surgical and anaesthesia teams to identify issues impacting service delivery and patient outcomes.
- Collaborate in enhancing the administrative and human resource functions of the surgical and anaesthesia departments to improve patient care quality.
Provide training for newly appointed team members in anaesthesia and relevant surgical/emergency procedures.
