About the job
About the Role
Become a key contributor to our Data Platform team at 10x Genomics, where you will design and implement our cutting-edge Unified Data Platform (UDP). This crucial position is dedicated to transforming our data infrastructure, migrating to a scalable Event-Driven Architecture (EDA), and laying the groundwork for next-generation AI/ML and self-service analytics solutions.
- Lead the architectural design and implementation of the Single Source of Truth (SSOT) for the 10x Intelligent Data Ecosystem.
- Utilize advanced software engineering methodologies to enhance the scalability and reliability of our data systems.
- Provide hands-on leadership in developing scalable and maintainable ETL/ELT solutions and data systems within a cloud-native environment.
- Systematically reduce critical technical debt by phasing out outdated legacy middleware (e.g., Boomi).
- Collaborate with engineering and business teams to enhance AI capabilities and democratize data access via Natural Language Querying (NLQ).
What You Will Be Doing
- Architect and implement the canonical data layer and Event-Driven Architecture (EDA) with technologies like Apache Iceberg and Kafka to ensure real-time data flow.
- Design, build, and optimize high-volume, code-first data pipelines (real-time and batch) across a diverse application landscape (e.g., Salesforce, Oracle, Workday).
- Establish Amazon S3 as the SSOT and govern data using principles like the Medallion Architecture (Silver and Gold layers) and schema evolution.
- Develop, test, and maintain robust ELT pipelines and data models in Snowflake, utilizing advanced features such as Snowpipes, Streams, and Stored Procedures.
- Create the data presentation layer for self-service analytics, including the NLQ interface integrated with Generative AI (e.g., Bedrock).
- Lead technical migrations of crucial business domains from legacy systems to the new platform, resolving the "Integration Bottleneck".
- Define and uphold data governance, quality, and security standards across the Unified Data Platform.
- Work with the Architecture Review Board (ARB) to promote modern practices such as serverless computing and Domain-Driven Design.
- Oversee the entire development lifecycle, from prototyping and design through deployment, monitoring, and ensuring operational excellence.
