Qualifications
Key Responsibilities:
Develop AI-driven automation systems: Create and implement AI/ML solutions, including workflows based on large language models (LLMs), to automate financial closing processes, expedite reporting cycles, and enhance data quality at scale.
Manage the financial data architecture: Design and maintain data pipelines, models, and dashboards to empower our Accounting, Finance, and Payments teams to operate with precision, agility, and assurance.
Enhance financial forecasting and scenario modeling: Construct and refine models for revenue, donations, and cash flow that inform FP&A, treasury, and executive strategies. Conduct scenario analyses to guide decision-making.
Lead payment intelligence projects: Develop models for fraud detection and prevention, optimize payment processor routing and costs, and create chargeback prediction systems to safeguard revenue and minimize losses.
Implement anomaly detection and risk oversight: Create models to identify irregularities in financial transactions, detect cost or revenue leaks, and fulfill audit and compliance requirements.
Deliver strategic finance insights: Perform in-depth analyses on unit economics, geographic, and segment-level performance, as well as fee structure optimization to influence our business strategy.
Shape the technical roadmap: Establish best practices for financial data modeling, pipeline architecture, and analytic infrastructure, and elevate data literacy across teams.

We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist for our Finance team to spearhead our data science initiatives in Accounting, Finance, and Payments at GoFundMe. This pivotal role merges financial analytics, payment intelligence, and operational automation, where you will be responsible for developing models, insights, and AI-driven solutions that enhance financial decision-making across the organization. You will shape the technical roadmap, lead impactful projects ranging from fraud detection to revenue forecasting, and establish the analytical framework that grows with our business.
Qualified candidates must reside in the San Francisco Bay Area, with an in-office commitment of three days a week.
