About the job
The Opportunity
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), the nation's champion for civil rights and liberties, is dedicated to forging a more perfect union. Our mission is to fulfill the promises of the United States Constitution for all individuals and to extend the protections it guarantees.
In the face of unprecedented threats to civil liberties, the ACLU's National Political Advocacy Department (NPAD) is committed to building a powerful and accountable democracy. We are in search of a Senior Director of National Campaigns to strategically propel our ambitious objectives across critical areas such as Reproductive Freedom, Democracy and Voting Rights, Systemic Equality, Immigration, Trans Justice, Criminal Justice, and Abuse of Power. This role involves orchestrating world-class campaigns that leverage legislative, administrative, and electoral mechanisms. The Senior Director will work collaboratively across the ACLU to bolster and amplify the priorities set forth by the organization and its affiliates.
The Senior Director will report directly to Deirdre Schifeling, the Chief Political & Advocacy Officer at the ACLU. Under her leadership, the NPAD harnesses significant political and policy forces to advance the rights of individuals, especially those from marginalized communities. With urgency, courage, and conviction, NPAD mobilizes the ACLU as a formidable force for justice, fully equipped to tackle the pressing challenges facing our democracy.
This pivotal position requires a strategic and visionary campaigner who possesses the expertise to activate, coordinate, and respond effectively to the dynamic threats against civil liberties. Focused on mobilization and movement-building, the Senior Director will guide a skilled team to achieve legislative and administrative victories while strengthening the ACLU's grassroots resistance to match the effectiveness of its legal advocacy.
