AECOM is thrilled to announce a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Environmental Planner/Project Manager - Energy to become a vital part of our Environmental Planning and Permitting (EPP) team located in Northern California. This hybrid role allows flexibility, as you can work from AECOM’s offices in Sacramento, Oakland, San Francisco, or San Jose, CA.
Our EPP team collaborates with a diverse range of private industries and public utility clients on a multitude of energy projects, including transmission systems, grid modernization, and renewable energy initiatives. In this influential role, you will lead project teams and collaborate with our environmental planning specialists and technical experts to create comprehensive environmental documents, focusing particularly on permitting and entitlement processes that support our expanding portfolio with energy developers and utility providers.
Your responsibilities will encompass serving as a seller-doer, managing client relationships, overseeing project teams, and navigating complex projects while actively engaging in business development efforts for both new and ongoing opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead environmental planning and compliance initiatives while ensuring the development of environmental documents and studies adhere to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and relevant state and federal environmental regulations.
- Oversee early-stage due diligence activities for the siting of energy projects and their associated infrastructure.
- Manage mid- to large-scale projects, including the formulation and monitoring of project schedules, budgets, invoicing, and coordination with clients, technical personnel, and subconsultants.
- Contribute to the preparation of environmental documents and entitlements for high-profile infrastructure projects, with a specific emphasis on energy sector initiatives.
- Engage in marketing and business development efforts, proposal preparation, and cost estimation as a seller-doer.
- Provide leadership in mentoring team members by reviewing their work for precision and clarity, as well as offering constructive feedback on project deliverables.
