Qualifications

Education:Relevant Diploma or Degree in Wildlife Management, Environmental Science, or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of guiding experience in a Big Five or similar wilderness environment. Registration with the Zambian Department of National Parks and Wildlife (DNPW) is advantageous. Certification in advanced rifle handling and valid first aid certification are mandatory. Demonstrated leadership skills with experience mentoring junior rangers. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a strong guest-focused approach. A profound passion for conservation, wildlife, and enhancing the guest safari experience. Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of the Kafue ecosystem and river-based guiding expertise.

About the role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee daily safari adventures including thrilling game drives, immersive walking safaris, and scenic river excursions, ensuring an unforgettable experience for guests.

  • Share your extensive knowledge of local wildlife, diverse ecosystems, and vital conservation initiatives, enriching guests’ understanding of the natural world.

  • Uphold the highest standards of safety, comfort, and engagement for all guests throughout their safari journey.

  • Mentor and train junior rangers and trackers, fostering their development and passion for wildlife conservation.

  • Actively contribute to conservation and sustainability initiatives within Kafue National Park, playing a pivotal role in protecting the environment.

  • Ensure the proper maintenance of equipment and vehicles, while adhering to safety and park regulations.

  • Represent Anantara with professionalism, enthusiasm, and warmth in every interaction with guests.

  • Conduct wildlife research and monitoring to support ongoing conservation efforts.

  • Design and implement innovative interpretive programs to enhance guest education and engagement.

  • Collaborate with local communities to promote sustainable tourism practices and raise awareness about conservation.

  • Assist in developing and executing anti-poaching strategies to protect wildlife.

  • Maintain accurate records of wildlife sightings, behaviors, and environmental changes to support conservation data.

  • Engage in continuous professional development to remain informed about industry best practices and conservation techniques.
