Location: Remote (Eastern Europe, MENA, or India preferred)
MLabs is seeking a Senior Layer-2 Engineer to play a pivotal role in the design and development of Layer-2 scaling solutions tailored for a custom blockchain ecosystem, specifically supporting enterprise-grade financial systems.
In this role, you will engage with rollup mechanisms, transaction batching, cross-layer communication, and performance optimization between Layer-1 and Layer-2 environments. Candidates must possess a robust knowledge of blockchain systems with an emphasis on scalability, execution logic, and security. The ideal candidate will have practical experience in building or contributing to Layer-2 or scaling infrastructure in production settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement Layer-2 scaling components
- Contribute to rollup architecture and transaction batching logic
- Develop cross-layer communication and bridging mechanisms
- Optimize throughput and latency across blockchain layers
- Ensure correctness and security of Layer-2 state transitions
- Collaborate with protocol, smart contract, and infrastructure teams
- Participate in architecture discussions and performance reviews
Qualifications
- 5+ years of software engineering experience
- Strong understanding of blockchain architecture
- Experience working on Layer-2 solutions (rollups, sidechains, scaling infrastructure)
- Proficiency in Rust, Go, or similar systems-level languages
- Strong understanding of state machines and the transaction lifecycle
- Experience in performance-sensitive distributed systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with optimistic or zk-rollups
- Experience with cross-chain messaging or bridging systems
- Collaboration experience with Layer-1 protocol teams
- Experience in fintech or regulated environments
- Experience working in distributed remote teams
