About This Role:
Join Freenome as a Senior Machine Learning Research Engineer on our Machine Learning Science (MLS) team, part of the Computational Science department. We are looking for a candidate with extensive experience in designing and developing deep learning (DL) pipelines and a proven track record in creating scalable and reliable artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) systems within cloud environments.
The MLS team at Freenome tackles the complexities of developing DL models using large-scale genomic data. As a Senior Machine Learning Research Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to establish and maintain the infrastructure necessary for the creation of these DL models. You will enable distributed DL pipelines, optimize hardware usage for efficient training, and implement model optimizations. Collaborating closely with interdisciplinary teams of machine learning scientists, computational biologists, and software engineers, you will play a key role in advancing state-of-the-art ML/AI models and furthering Freenome’s mission to reduce cancer mortality through accessible early detection.
This position reports to the Director of Machine Learning Science and can be hybrid, based in our Brisbane, California headquarters (2-3 days in the office), or fully remote.
