Job Summary:
The Senior Operations Specialist at PFM Labs will be pivotal in enhancing operational excellence throughout laboratory workflows. This position emphasizes the optimization of efficiency, standardization, quality, and cross-functional collaboration within PFM lab operations. The ideal candidate should possess at least 5 years of hands-on laboratory experience along with a deep understanding of comprehensive lab processes, allowing for effective partnerships with scientific, operational, and quality stakeholders.
Reporting directly to the VP of Business & Operational Excellence, the Process Expert will facilitate the assessment, design, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of lab workflows, ensuring smooth execution, clearly defined responsibilities, and consistent service delivery to internal and external partners.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
Process Mapping & Optimization
- Map current and prospective laboratory processes, detailing roles, handoffs, and decision points.
- Engage in root-cause analysis with stakeholders to pinpoint core process issues.
- Identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and challenges in lab workflows, aligning with ongoing PFM BOE initiatives.
- Recommend and implement process enhancements that improve efficiency, reduce turnaround times, and boost overall performance.
- Assist in the development and upkeep of process narratives, RACIs, SOP linkages, and training materials.
Operational Excellence & Governance
- Collaborate with lab managers, scientists, QA, and cross-functional SMEs to ensure consistent execution across labs.
- Support organizational design discussions where processes intersect with roles and responsibilities.
- Take part in lab maturity assessments and optimization projects.
Change Management & Stakeholder Engagement
- Prepare communication materials, training, and documentation to facilitate the adoption of new or revised processes.
- Assist teams during transitions, ensuring clarity and accountability.
- Work collaboratively with process owners and SMEs to instill a “Precision Way” of managing lab operations.
Performance Monitoring
- Help design or refine process-related KPIs and operational dashboards.
- Monitor performance metrics to ensure continuous improvement.
