Position Summary
The Senior Regulatory Engineer acts as the primary technical authority responsible for interpreting and implementing the codes and standards that govern IEM's electrical distribution products. This role is essential in guiding compliance strategies, aiding cross-functional teams in translating regulatory requirements into actionable design and certification plans, and serving as the key technical liaison with external certification bodies. The position plays a critical role in new product development, product adjustments, and maintaining compliance across IEM's extensive portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
This role is tasked with ensuring compliance with industry regulations across multiple electrical distribution product lines, supporting IEM's expanding production facilities in the United States and Canada. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing expert interpretation of relevant codes and standards (e.g., NEC, UL, CSA, ANSI/IEEE C37.20) and converting those requirements into clear, actionable guidance for engineering teams.
- Acting as the lead technical resource for R&D, Product Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing regarding standards-driven design decisions and compliance pathways.
- Serving as the main technical interface with UL and other NRTLs, defining certification strategies, supporting testing and evaluation activities, and managing product listings and certifications.
- Collaborating with engineering teams to ensure that new product designs, modifications, and component substitutions comply with applicable standards and certification requirements, facilitating continuity of supply.
- Interpreting updates to codes and standards, evaluating their applicability to IEM products, and providing recommendations, training, and resources to compliance leadership and stakeholders.
- Creating training and educational materials related to codes and standards for both internal and external teams as required.
