At NordVPN, we operate a globally distributed VPN and DNS infrastructure that serves millions of users. Your role will encompass deploying, managing, and enhancing VPN nodes worldwide, ensuring every client connection is optimized for speed, stability, and security.
You will collaborate closely with application teams to ensure seamless client connectivity from end to end. Quality and reliability are paramount in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy and manage a globally distributed VPN and DNS infrastructure
- Ensure optimal connection quality, stability, and performance across all nodes
- Collaborate with application teams to enhance client connectivity and protocol performance
- Optimize VPN service performance through kernel tuning, flamechart analysis, and profiling
- Manage security measures including firewalls, PKI, certificate lifecycle, and hardening
- Oversee authentication and authorization frameworks
- Take ownership of configuration management and automated infrastructure provisioning
- Communicate incidents clearly and lead postmortem analyses
Core Qualifications
- Manage critical VPN services from architecture to monitoring, ensuring scalability and security
- Deliver on OKRs and key commitments within set timelines
- Draft RFCs/ADRs for new features and refactoring efforts
- Enhance engineering quality through design reviews, knowledge sharing, and mentorship
- Balance reliability, security, and delivery speed with sound operational judgment
