At Speechify, our mission is to eliminate reading barriers to enhance learning. With over 50 million users, our text-to-speech products transform reading materials—such as PDFs, books, Google Docs, news articles, and websites—into audio. This innovation allows users to read faster, absorb more, and retain information effectively. Our award-winning products include iOS and Android apps, a Mac application, a Chrome extension, and a web app. Notably, Google recognized Speechify as the Chrome Extension of the Year, while Apple named it the App of the Day.
Currently, our team of nearly 200 professionals operates in a fully distributed environment—Speechify has no physical office. Our diverse team comprises frontend and backend engineers, AI research scientists, and industry veterans from Amazon, Microsoft, Google, as well as alumni from leading PhD programs like Stanford, and successful startups such as Stripe, Vercel, and Bolt.

Overview
As part of our expansion, the AI team at Speechify is on the lookout for a Senior Backend Engineer. This crucial role will focus on ensuring our infrastructure scales efficiently, optimizing essential product workflows, and building robust end-to-end systems. What You'll Do
- Implement state-of-the-art voice cloning technologies.
- Develop low-latency and cost-effective text-to-speech solutions.
An Ideal Candidate Should Have
- Demonstrated experience in backend development using Python.
- Hands-on experience with GCP, along with familiarity with AWS, Azure, or other cloud platforms.
- Proven ability to ideate and execute efficiently while prioritizing tasks based on urgency and impact.
- Experience with Docker and containerized deployment practices.
- Expertise in deploying high-availability applications on Kubernetes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
