About the job
Persona AI is at the forefront of developing and commercializing advanced, multi-functional humanoid robots designed to tackle real-world challenges. Our founding team brings decades of experience in humanoid robotics, bionics, and product development, having created robust hardware that has explored the cosmos, delved deep into oceanic abyss, and entertained guests at Disney Parks. We are dedicated to delivering aesthetically pleasing, dependable products on a massive scale while fostering a customer-centric team to realize our vision.
Our Teleoperation Team plays a crucial role in uniting human intellect with robotic capabilities. The efficacy of this connection hinges on data accuracy: how swiftly it operates, how consistently it performs, and how precisely it reflects the robot's real-time experiences.
As a Senior Systems & Robotics Engineer specializing in Teleoperation, you will be responsible for the technical infrastructure on the machine side. This includes developing data transport frameworks, integrating hardware components, and creating fleet monitoring systems to enable seamless human-robot interactions over challenging, real-world networks. You understand that latency is not merely a metric; each additional millisecond diminishes operator confidence.
Your Contributions Will Include:
• Designing low-latency, fault-tolerant data streaming systems across unreliable networks—WiFi, cellular, and everything in between.
• Developing software that directly interfaces with hardware SDKs for robotic perception and control.
• Creating real-time data pipelines that integrate motion capture and hardware prototypes for demonstration and training purposes.
• Establishing a monitoring, metrics, and alerting infrastructure that scales with our expanding fleet of robots.
• Building web APIs and backend services for efficient data collection, remote operations, and operational analytics.
• Developing embedded Linux software deep within the firmware stack to address latency challenges.
Qualifications We Are Seeking:
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering, with a strong emphasis on systems, embedded systems, or robotics.
• Proficiency in Rust and C++, along with solid Python skills for tool development, harnesses, and performance-critical applications.
• Extensive experience with Linux, particularly in embedded and firmware-level environments.
• A solid grounding in networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, WiFi, cellular, and BLE, coupled with strong debugging skills.
• Familiarity with robotic control systems and protocols is a plus.
