Job Description
We are on the lookout for a skilled Systems Safety Engineer to become part of the Omen team at our Costa Mesa headquarters. Omen stands as Anduril’s groundbreaking hover-to-cruise autonomous air vehicle (AAV), merging the endurance, payload capacity, and mission adaptability of larger aircraft into a versatile, runway-independent Group 3 platform. It operates seamlessly from ship decks, beaches, or remote island clearings, marking a significant advancement in operational flexibility for both defense and civilian applications. With a mass-production contract for 50 systems, Omen represents a pivotal investment that not only anchors production but also accelerates the development of future innovations.
In this role, you will focus on the System Safety and Airworthiness components of our aircraft development initiatives, thriving in a lean, high-ownership culture where your contributions will directly influence the product. You will work at an unparalleled pace, enabling new designs to take flight within months rather than years.
What You’ll Do- Adopt a pragmatic and appropriately scaled approach to Systems Safety and Airworthiness to facilitate the realization of Omen’s capabilities in a timely manner.
- Craft and execute a customized Systems Safety strategy aligned with MIL-STD-882E and tailored for the Omen capability.
- Collaborate with customers, end-users, and local regulatory bodies to identify suitable Airworthiness frameworks and established standards, shaping the comprehensive Airworthiness strategy that supports design efforts.
- Devise Airworthiness plans and documentation to aid regional regulatory processes and submissions.
- Establish Systems Safety requirements and work alongside Vehicle, Mission, Support, and Production design teams to implement best practices in safety.
- Recognize the necessity for and carry out intricate safety analyses, including Functional Hazard Analysis, System Hazard Analysis, Environmental Hazard Analysis, and Fault Tree Analysis, among others.
