About the job
Kira is revolutionizing the education sector with our innovative AI-native platform. Our mission is to transform teaching by seamlessly integrating educators with AI technology that generates content, assesses student submissions, and offers personalized feedback on a large scale. Our products are actively utilized by schools, districts, and universities, showcasing our commitment to impactful education solutions. As a dynamic early-stage company, we pride ourselves on our engaged customer base and a collaborative, high-responsibility team.
We are excited to invite exceptional full-stack engineering interns to join our team for the Summer of 2026. In this role, you will work on real production systems that directly impact students and educators, rather than isolated intern projects. Over the course of 12 weeks, you will take ownership of and deliver a significant feature from initial design to deployment. This opportunity is ideal for candidates who are self-motivated builders and aim to meet high standards in their work.
What You Will Work On
Intern projects are strategically positioned on critical product paths, including:
AI-driven grading and feedback systems
User interfaces for students and teachers (dashboards, workflows)
Internal tools utilized by curriculum and operations teams
Infrastructure that supports LLM-based features (evaluations, prompt iteration, reliability enhancements)
You will engage with multiple layers of our technology stack:
Frontend: TypeScript, React, Next.js
Backend: Node.js, Python
Data: APIs, databases, system integrations
What You Will Do
Take charge of a defined project with a clear user outcome and guide it through to completion
Produce high-quality, production-ready code that undergoes review, testing, and deployment
Engage in design discussions and code reviews with the team
Collaborate closely with product and design teams to refine requirements and evaluate trade-offs
Troubleshoot real-world issues and enhance system reliability and performance
Contribute to AI-enhanced features relevant to your project
What We Are Looking For
Candidates who demonstrate a high level of independence and technical expertise
Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Computer Science or a related discipline (should return to school in Fall 2026)
