About the job
Join Relay, a pioneering force in the logistics industry, as we redefine commerce in the digital age. With a remarkable $35 million Series A funding—the largest in European logistics—we are poised for unprecedented growth, outpacing 99.98% of our venture-backed peers. Our vision is ambitious: to build a team brimming with talent and expertise that will transform how goods are delivered.
Our Mission is to eliminate barriers in commerce. We believe that high delivery costs should not dictate what can be sold online or limit participation in e-commerce. Our goal is to create a world where goods flow freely among people, ensuring that online shopping is a seamless and inclusive experience.
THE TEAM
• A dynamic team of ~110 individuals, with a significant portion in engineering, product development, and data analysis
• Over 45 advanced degrees in fields like computer science, mathematics, and operations research
• Thousands of data points meticulously managed for every parcel we handle
• A culture that thrives on first-principles thinking, iterative feedback, and continuous experimentation.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a Sortation Marketplace Operations Manager. This senior role is integral to our Sortation Squad, reporting directly to our Director of Sort, Mobeen Warraich. You will oversee the marketplace layer essential for our sorting network: ensuring optimal staffing of Warehouse Operatives at every sort site, punctually and efficiently.
This position is strategic, not a floor role. While site managers and shift leads execute daily operations, your focus will be on designing and implementing marketplace systems that streamline their tasks—from forecasting site needs to sourcing and securing labor, and establishing recovery mechanisms when plans do not unfold as expected. You will collaborate closely with the engineering team, led by Dragos Popa, and work alongside a dedicated data analyst, as your key daily partners. As our sorting operations expand, so too will the influence and importance of your role.
