Position Overview
The Specialty Sales Manager is pivotal in promoting the identification and adoption of innovative procedures for the da Vinci surgical system. Collaborating closely with sales leadership and teams in Clinical Sales, Capital Sales, and Key Accounts, the Manager will focus on recognizing and nurturing Key Opinion Leaders to spearhead and broaden the use of the da Vinci system in rapidly developing surgical specialties. Additionally, this role involves partnering with local sales representatives to provide coaching, guidance, and training on effectively selling to specialists within their designated hospital accounts. This position is part of a dedicated team of strategic, senior sales professionals nationwide aimed at enhancing the adoption of new procedures that will catalyze the future growth of Intuitive Surgical.
Key Responsibilities
- Expand da Vinci Specialty Procedures Utilization:
- Identify and cultivate Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) for General, Thoracic, Colorectal, and Bariatric procedures, with a potential focus on Head & Neck Surgery.
- Establish regional case observation sites and Epicenters.
- Collaborate with sales leadership to undertake strategic market development initiatives, including MSA RIPs and targeted outreach activities.
- Implement the Consolidation Pathway Methodology.
- Facilitate all sales activities for KOLs to enhance their proficiency as da Vinci surgeons, including:
- Selecting suitable case observation sites
- Conducting on-site and wet lab training sessions
- Delivering value in the first series of procedures
- Providing intra-operative and post-operative clinical value during initial surgeon case series
- Developing and leading advanced regional training programs
- Act as a liaison for market intelligence between marketing and training teams.
- Deliver presentations to hospital and practice executives.
- Assess and develop the future training pipeline by evaluating da Vinci Single-Site surgeon candidates for training feasibility within the targeted geography.
- Elevate Area Specialty Sales Competence:
- Provide constructive feedback to improve representatives’ effectiveness in selling to specific specialties.
- Identify local needs and coordinate knowledge programs with support from AVP and CSDs.
