Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments of communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing (dysphagia) abilities for patients post-neurosurgery and spine operations.
- Design and execute individualized treatment plans tailored to clinical findings and patient objectives.
- Track patient progress, reassess as necessary, and modify treatment interventions accordingly.
- Deliver evidence-based interventions for acute care patients, including those with complex neurological conditions.
- Engage actively in interprofessional team rounds, discussions, and care conferences.
- Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals to ensure comprehensive and coordinated patient care.
- Offer recommendations regarding communication and swallowing safety, including diet texture adjustments and communication strategies.
- Maintain precise, timely, and complete clinical documentation in compliance with hospital protocols and CASLPO standards.
- Prepare and present verbal and written reports to communicate assessment outcomes and treatment recommendations to the care team and patients/families.
- Provide educational sessions, in-services, and professional presentations to colleagues, students, and other stakeholders as required.
- Facilitate patient and family education to enhance understanding and management of communication and swallowing disorders.
