Position: Staff Accountant / Financial Analyst

Role Overview: This is a hybrid position, allocating approximately 20–25% to accounting tasks and 75–80% to financial analysis and FP&A. Over time, accounting responsibilities are expected to decrease to 5–10% due to automation.

Core Responsibilities:
Accounting (20–25%, decreasing over time):
- Facilitate the month-end close process in an accrual-based (GAAP) environment.
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and roll-forward schedules.
- Assist with revenue recognition across Shopify, Amazon, and various e-commerce platforms.
- Support COGS, inventory analysis, and intercompany reconciliations.
- Maintain organized accounting documentation and workpapers.
- Preferred: Assist with U.S. sales tax filings across 47 states.
Financial Analysis & FP&A (Primary Focus):
- Deliver monthly P&L reporting, KPI tracking, and variance analysis.
- Develop and maintain financial models, rolling forecasts, and dashboards.
- Analyze marketing expenditures, contribution margins, operational performance, and inventory forecasting.
- Assist in cash flow planning and working capital optimization.
- Conduct scenario analysis, trend identification, and in-depth analytics.
- Translate raw, unstructured data into actionable insights independently (critical requirement).
Collaboration & Growth:
- Engage directly with the CFO on a daily basis, with limited interaction with the broader organization.
- Explore automation opportunities utilizing AI to minimize manual accounting workloads.
- Participate in the selection, testing, and implementation of financial tools and process improvements.
