Position Overview:
The role of a Standby Man is crucial for ensuring safety during confined space operations. Positioned at the entrance of the confined area, the Standby Man is responsible for the ongoing safety of personnel working inside by monitoring conditions, maintaining communication, and executing emergency protocols when necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
Remain vigilant and stationed outside the confined space at all times during operations.
Ensure continuous visual and/or verbal communication with workers inside the confined space.
Monitor environmental conditions to identify potential hazards such as gas leaks, temperature fluctuations, and oxygen levels.
Promptly initiate emergency response procedures when required.
Confirm that all entry permits and safety protocols are adhered to strictly.
Maintain communication with the safety team and site supervisor throughout the project duration.
Prevent unauthorized access to the confined space.
Thoroughly document and report any incidents or observations.
