The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) plays a pivotal role in ensuring that our suppliers meet our stringent quality standards and requirements. This position involves collaboration with our Global Supply Chain and Engineering Departments to assess and develop our strategic global supply chain. The SQE will evaluate, monitor, and enhance supplier performance through audits, inspections, and collaborative efforts. As a leader, you will address supplier-related issues promptly and spearhead continual improvements in global supplier performance.
- Collaboration: Partner with engineering, procurement, and manufacturing teams to align on quality expectations and standards, acting as a liaison between product engineers, manufacturing, and vendors.
- Supplier Evaluation: Lead and participate in cross-functional supplier validation audits, quality assessments, and manufacturing capability studies. Review supplier processes and compliance to enhance process improvement.
- Quality Assurance: Develop and implement quality control processes for incoming materials, components, and assemblies.
- Problem Solving: Conduct onsite supplier visits to perform root cause analyses and verify corrective action plans.
- Performance Monitoring: Track and report on supplier performance metrics, including defect rates, delivery timelines, and compliance with required certifications.
- Documentation: Maintain thorough documentation of supplier quality assessments, audits, and performance reviews.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives to improve supplier quality, reduce defects, and enhance overall performance using quality tools and methods such as DOE, RCCA, 8D, MSA, FAI, sampling plans, process capability analysis, FTA, and SPC.
